Turnaround time on barrel threading and muzzle break installation

My dad dropped off his 300 RUM at the GS 2 months ago to have his barrel threaded and a muzzle break installed. The GS is also supposed to contour the break to match the barrel contour. As of now they have done nothing to the gun.

What is the avg. turn around time for something like this. I would have imagined it wouldn't take 2 months to get it back.

I guess it all depends on how busy the GS is. Did they give any kind of estimate for when it would be done? Personally I'd get my gun back and go somewhere else.

Really depends on smith and how much back log they have I would assume. I was quoted a week on my last job and it took three. But in your case there is a lot more than just threading going on. Two months seems long but his avg turnaround time may be three months. I would just call him and ask him what's going on.

I was told a week on my last and it was less.

I would have retrieved my rifle and moved on long before 2 months passed

S&S Precision did one for me plus some other work and it was about a 1 week turn around.

There's a dude on ar15.com that usually ships them out 1 or 2 days after he receives them. I think he is still just charging 50 to thread an actioned barrel. Everything else is extra. He's done hundreds over there.

That's probably Morgan Richie in DFW. He normally does great work with a fast turn around but he apparently doesn't want my business because I have been trying to make contact with him for a week.

Possibly I haven't looked at it in ages. I just remembered the thread had tons of pics of barrels lined up against the wall that were supposedly that days work.

Lol. Morgan Richey is the man. The fact that he hasn't returned Mikes call only makes me like him more. Lol.

Morgan usually gets my stuff done real quick. He's done quite a few for me over the years and it takes a week sometimes. And other times it takes 2 weeks.. these times factor in shipping to him and return shipping.

Mike I'll send you his address just drop it in the mail with some monies. You'll have it back before the wheel of fortune marathon this weekend.

Send me his address. I used to have it because I can deliver and pick up there. He is less than 30 minutes from my office.

I really need to talk to him first. I need to explain what I want done. I have 3 rifles that are already threaded 1/2-28 but they aren't threaded to SiCo specs for the Spectre II can. I think that's why I had a baffle strike.

I had to send back the first barrel I ever sent him 3+ years ago. It was threaded too long and the spectreii would not seat on the shoulder. Few days later had it back and been 10k rounds or more through it since without a hitch.
                          Text sent mike.
