Tactical machining used to sell them for 29 dollars a piece.

It's definitely not about money though. Plenty of us like to take on projects to learn new skills or just to have the satisfaction of making our own things.

I think it is about the fact no one will know you have it and no serial number.

OH it wold be fun to do also!

The last lowers I bought were $39

Don't remember the website but it was easy to find with a search.

Unless you just have time to tinker, and love doing it, I don't know how you can beat the $39 lowers. They're not that hard to find anymore ... until the next scare, that is.

If it's the serial numbers we should do a lower exchange program. LOL

I'd advise against trying to use a drill press, they are not made to be loaded laterally like a mill. Not sure when you start stressing it and you get a little chatter how safe it will be running an endmill in a jacobs chuck.
I saw it on arfcom at some point. I'll see if I can find it again.

The drill templates I have seen take 99% out with normal drilling very little cleanup pass around the outside.

I'd like to find a single shot 80% lower for my tac15.

Atf letter to an individual. Check page 2. If later transferred to another party it must be marked in accordance to article 27.

I did mine with a drill press. I bought a kit with bits and jigs. and finished with a dremel. It is not that but slow. Tolerances on a lower are huge except for the trigger pins and safety. I never side loaded my drill press.

I am machinists though and have the mills and tooling to do it. If you have a decent drill press and a vice you shouldnt have a problem doing it in a garage. You will need several different size drills and a couple of end mills
your buddy will be machining his own lowers, right...

Been looking at these as well. What do you do for the hard anodizing once finished.

Holes are marked and just remove the white.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Gotta be careful. If you finish em for someone else you are a manufacturer.

I have a vmc ( cnc mill ) but honestly finished lowers are so cheap it would cost me more to do an 80% lower than buy a finished one. I have thought about machining one from scratch but that would cost me even more!
