I'd go with the Ruger. I just like the looks of them better. There's nothing wrong with the Savage I'm sure. Its just not as good lookin in my opinion. I do like the price tag on it alot better though.

X2
Ruger = sexy
Savage has always been UGLY.
I want a 17 hornet in bumble bee (yellow/black) laminate pretty bad. So I'm going to try to act like I didn't see that ruger American pic.
Thanks for the input. Now, what should I expect to pay? I've seen the Ruger from $599 to $999. A $400 price difference for the same exact gun just 600 miles between stores.

Ruger 77/17 in 17 Hornet should run you about $725ish
Savage 25LW should run you about $600ish, or $640ish with thumbhole stock.
CZ all the way.... When I was doing the research, Rugers kept coming up with bad triggers reviews and some accuracy issues. I also read a lot of negative stuff on the Savage M25. That is why I went with the CZ 527 varmint. It also had a set trigger that is pretty awesome.

Well take it from someone that had a savage model 25 walking varminter, go CZ you won't regret it. My model 25 was fairly accurate (about 1 to 1 1/4" at100), but my action was far from smooth. The seemed to easily bind and a few jams. The action reminded me of a rimfire action vs a centerfire. Just my two cents and maybe I had a lemon. Good luck

I don't have a 17 Hornet, YET, but I do have a 527 varmint in 204. Great gun, good trigger, plenty accurate for my needs. If I were to go with a 17 Hornet I would definitely consider the CZ!!
