    SBR adjustable gas block

I read an article a few months ago about adjustable gas blocks on the ar-15 platform and all of the benefits of having one. The article also stated that most rifles are over gassed for reliability. I also read numerous accounts of guys building SBR's and having excess gas blowing out the back of the rifle. I experienced this first hand shooting a buddy's 16 inch supressed and could feel the gas hitting me in the face. I decided that on my sbr build that I was going to use an adjustable gas block to try to have the least amount of gas necessary to cycle the bolt. I examined several options on the market and did not want to pay for the noveski swithblock, due to being restricted to special handguards. I wanted the gas block to be covered. Of the gas block options I found various ways of ensuring the setting is locked in place, some with lock tite or a set screw. After several days of looking I found the syrac ordinance adjustable gas block. It is front adjusting with an Allen screw and uses a detent to lock the setting in place. This appeared to be exactly what I needed for my build. Fast forward two months and the rifle was ready to shoot yesterday. I set the gas low and increased one click, one round at a time until bolt lock. Then one more for ammo reliability. Gun was firing very smooth with no malfunctions. Then it was supressor time. Keeping the same setting on the gas block I was able to still fire with no malfunctions and no gas hitting me in the face (standard factory charging handle). I am very happy with this gas block and the gun fires smooth, can't decide if felt recoil is less but I think so. 50 rounds in it yesterday without an issue, didn't have an optic on it so I wasn't really I to shooting it more. Just wanted to share how pleased I am with this setup after reading how much tuning can go into an SBR.

    Gun specs:
Home built yankee hill lower and 10.5 barrel
    Bushmaster upper and bcg
Yankee hill free float keymod handguards
    Spikes tactical mid weight buffer
    Tuned buffer spring
    Gemtech halo
    Syrac ordinance adjustable gas block

That's cool! I would've have guessed they would cost a lot more than what they go for.

yeah after looking at the cost of a Noveski switch block, i needed a different option. It was near impossible to find handguards that work with a switchblock, that arent noveski

I only use http://www.syracordnance.com/ GEN II gas blocks... They are great for SBR to full and even on my long range gear. The adjustment ability helps in many ways....depending on your set up and purpose. I'm a fan.
