    Ammo cans question

What are the differences in the metal ammo cans?
Some say airtight, some say waterproof, some don't say anything in the description. The price seems to vary from $19 to $49.

Any recommended place to buy them?

Is there a difference and what is best for long term storage?

    Thanks

All that I have ever bought have a rubber seal inside and are completely air tight, which would also make it waterproof.

My guess on price is new vs used. There are companies now making new ones to mil spec. They are also taking beat up used ones and refurbishing them.

I would try to get them local. Prices vary greatly for what u are getting. IMHO u need to put ur hands on it first. Army surplus, gun show etc.

Sam's sometimes has new ones, it's a .50 cal and .30cal can combo. $30 I think. Probably made in China...http://www.samsclub.com/sams/ammo-bo...erm=ammo%20can

They are undamaged and best bet at air/water tight.

Command Post on 45N, just north on Rankin has a pretty good size selection.

Academy has the 50cal can for $20. They run it on sale for $10 every so often.
        They have the rubber seal.
They work for what I use it for.

They are made in China though.

Not sure where but you can buy pallet loads of used military ammo cans. I bought about 20 of them a couple of years ago cheap from Craigslist. Think I paid $8/10 apiece. Some were ugly but still in great shape. I took 6/8 of'em and lightly sanded and kinda tiger stripe camo'd them. Still have a bunch just waiting for more ammo...

                  Thanks!
I will have to look for the rubber seal.
Those ones you painted look really cool.
