    I bought something pretty cool

Ok, I can't post pics as I don't have the rifle with me, but you can look it up on Olympic arms website.

They have come out with a 308-15 AR style rifle. It is a proprietary lower that comes with a 308 Win upper. Here's the twist! The upper can be removed and pins can be relocated to accept any standard AR caliber. The 308 upper on mine is equipped with a free floating hand guard with sling swivel stud, and an 18" heavy stainless barrel threaded for a flash hider or suppressor. It comes with a nice stainless thread protector installed.

The proprietary 308 upper takes a special single stack magazine. Once the upper is removed and say a 5.56 upper installed, the magazine well is machined to accept standard AR magazines.

Other calibers are in the works such as 260 Remington.

I can't wait to get out to give this rifle a good run. I paid $999 for it at a gun shop.

You have another upper you can throw on it to check if it actually works?

Might be this weekend for the pics. It'll work. It's really an awesome concept. Take one lower and a couple of uppers and cover your entire hunt.

Except there's no aftermarket support for that upper and you're slaved to oly arms. If you want a smaller 308, then DPMS G2 is probably the way to go (aftermarket support is building up).

Not to knock your purchase, I hope you enjoy it immensely.

Well, I didn't buy it for aftermarket support of the 308 win upper, it's good as is for my purposes as is. I bought it because it is a 308 and will accept mil spec AR 15 uppers, and 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, 450 Bushmaster, etc.

I do fully expect Oly will produce other bigger uppers for the platform. Really excited about the 260 Remington.
