Too Muzzle Break or Not Too Muzzle Break

Considering installing a muzzle break on my AR10. Recoil is not very bad, but if it would significantly reduce it...I'd welcome it.

I've looked at a couple around the $100 price range. Some are also ported to counter muzzle rise.

    Go or No Go?

I've always been a not to break guy but am having one installed on a 7stw being built right now.

It's easier to counter the noise with quality hearing protection than it is to counter recoil....imo.

I've tried the shoulder pad, mercury recoil tubes and a lead sled but none are as effective as a break. For an AR, a mercury tube would likely be enough but it adds a weight penalty.

Id get the muzzle break/comp for an AR10. What is on it now?

I have a Remington R25 in 308 and have no need at all for a brake. I did just buy a Remington 5 R mil-spec in 300 win mag and noticed that I was beginning to flinch and shoot bad groups. I bought a Vais muzzlebrake for it and it fixed my flinching.

To me the question needs to be "will it help me shoot better?"
For me, with a 300 win mag, the answer was yes.

Ya, the kick is very mind....just looking to minimize it more and help get back on target faster.....plus they look kool!

I put one on my 7mag and it made a world of difference for me. I’m putting them on almost all my guns now because for me they reduces recoil and increase accuracy.

My opinion--no way. I'm not recoil sensitive in the slightest, but the noise of a brake bothers me a bunch. Hate having the shooter on the bench next to me shooting one--I generally take a break until they've finished. Plus, IMO they are ugly.

If recoil is an issue, install a Pachmayr Decellerator recoil pad.

Suppress it. Best of both worlds.

You want it for recoil? On a gas gun? I'm gonna be that guy and say it: PUSHUPS.

Yep, I meant, do you have anything on the barrel now? Flash suppressor? target crown?

                        +1 on suppressing it!
