    Thoughts on 17 Hornet

Thinking about picking up one of these 17 Hornets for small game, varmints, turkeys, etc. Looks pretty awesome. Already have a 17 HMR, so would probably sell that if I pick up one... Here's a good read and review of the CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet:

I want one in a BAD way... dont really need it... like you I have a 17hmr... Also have a 204 ruger, 22lr, 223... So its not like I HAVE to have it... But half the stuff (probably more) In my safe I dont really NEED

17 hornet in a yellow/gray "bumblebee" thumbhole laminate.... Stainless would be SUPER SWEET.... Like I said I want one BAD... but dont need it

I also would like to try the CZ... almost bought the american 22lr the other day that is already threaded... but fell into a 77/22 instead

    DO IT!!!

That should be an awesome little rifle. Never played with the 17 Hornet, but my 527 American in 223 shoots tiny little groups. One heck of a walking varmint/calling rifle. I have a lot of nice rifles but wouldn't trade that little CZ for anything. If I was going to get a sub-caliber that 17 Hornet would get some serious consideration.

You should look into the 17 wsm(Winchester short magnum). Hold flat to around 200 yards. I don't remember all the ballistic details but I was impressed.

I would buy this over the 17WSM rimfire.

Right now there is not a rifle available for the 17 WSM that will even be close to the quality of that CZ.

Just did some playing around with my ballistic calculator and if you sight this round (20gr v-max) in for 50 yards, you hold dead on out to 200! It's 3/4" high at 100, 1/2" high at 150 and .6" low at 200... prettttyyyyyyy awesome

getting the gun is the easy part. getting the glass is a different story.

I had one in a savage, but sold it. Wasn't a fan of the model 25 action but flat out loves the round! Buy one and I promise you won't regret it.

Wanted that rifle. Finally held it this weekend and felt heavy. Didn't see how it's a walking rifle.
