    Model 70 got a facelift

    What do Yall think?

Started with my first gun I ever bought with my own money when I was 12 I believe. Win Model 70 Classic Sporter. The blueing was looking really bad so I decided to try some Alumahyde Dark Park Grey on the barrel, action and bottom metal. I'll probably do the bolt as well but prolly only the handle and maybe get it rejeweled.
Bought an very lightly used Bell and Carlson Carbelite stock. It started as all black but I hit it with some coyote and some black webbing.

No walnut stock was harmed in the making of this rifle. I figure no matter what there is no permanent harm done. I could always refinishing the wood stock, strip the metal and get it blued again

Rifle before (doesn't show the bad blueing)

    Stock before

    Stock after

Looks good! I'm partial to the beautiful old hard wood, but that synthetic is just so practical.

Great job!! Want to do another!? I've got a B&C thumbhole on my Win 70 CRF Classic Sporter 25-06 and have been thinking of doing something like this with mine. I have my original stock as well and it is in near mint condition. If I ever what to revert, all I have to do is swap stocks.

What cal is your Classic Sporter!?

I gotta ask, what kind of paint did you buy? This is going to be my next free weekend project.

You did do a nice job.

I am partial to worn blueing and the warm feel of a hardwood stock. I guess it can be described as "character".

Thanks everyone. The coyote brown in Alumahyde and the drip/webbing is Krylon webbing paint. Just spray it and it shoots put a web like silly string but paint.

I'm VERY partial to wood and worn blue. I just have a safe full of wood stocked guns that have seen plenty of use and was wanting a lighter rifle with a finish that would hold off the rust on extended hunts where I can just wipe the rain and dust off and not worry as much.

                    Good looking rifle!

I'd also do the bolt handle.

Will the Alumahyde Dark Park Grey work on scopes?

I'm with these guys, there's just something about the wood stock that I love on a deer rifle. IMO, the rifle looks the best in the first pic.

Thanks brother. Yeah I'll probably do the bolt handle. Not sure if I'll do the scope just yet but it would definitely work. I'm just not sure if I what to put a bit lighter scope on or not.

Good thing about paint is it can come off and I still have the stock so I can go back any time.

Looks good. I'd paint the scope to match.
