    Barnes .243 ttsx

Have any of yall loaded any of the 80 grain bullets? Im a new found friend of these all copper barnes bullets so I thought I would give them a try out of the .243 700 I just got done putting together. I just loaded 30 of them with 43.5 gr of h414 and the manual says it should shoot about 3300 fps. If I get a chance tomorrow I will set up the chrono an shoot this thing an see what happens.

I shoot nothing but Barnes out of my 7mm Ultra Mag. Love their bullets!

Great bullet for smaller calibers Like the one you loaded for. I would have started out with 10 to make sure my gun liked them first. But if it does, you can't go wrong with them.

The Barnes bullets can shoot extremely accurately. But they can be sensitive to powder charge and seating depth. If the first batch doesn't shoot well, don't hesitate to try some different things with them. For example, in my '06, the 168 TSX with a minimum powder charge of RL19 was a 2" group; with a max charge of RL19 it was a one-hole group. Others have found the difference between accuracy and not is the seating depth.

They're murder on varmints and pigs. Back when I had my 243 that's primarily what I used.

Love the Barnes TSX in .243. 2 seasons ago that's all I hunted with. I killed 6 deer, including one good sized buck that I shot directly in the shoulder and the bullet worked fine.

Out to 100yds, I would have no problems shooing an Elk with it.

Love the TTSX and they do best in lighter than normal for caliber so the 80's should be a great fit for your .243.

Did you work up to this load or did you just pick a random load from a book and load all 30 the same?

Thats what we use in my sons Encore. Haven't gone hunting with it yet, but found a good load that is plenty accurate and should be a killer on the larger WT up here.

They are great bullets out of 243 and are extremely accurate. One word of caution when shooting at deer with these, you have to hit bone for them to properly expand. My dad has killed 2 bucks that were shot behind the front should (no bone) and there was no blood trail. Not even blood in the truck when they put the deer in. Both bucks were dead in less than 50 yards. On the other hand he has head shot does with these and there were literally no brains left in the head. So shoulder shot, neck shot or head shot, as long as you hit some bone these bullets are unreal.

I shot 6 animals this past year in Africa with the 160 grain Barnes TSX out of my 7mm RUM and they anchored every animal I shot and I only recovered 1 bullet. I shot every animal low through both shoulders. They are a devastating bullet and all I have used for the past several years.

TTSX is all we have shot in our 7-08's & my 270 for 3 years, through the shoulder is DRT while behind the shoulder (meat saver) is small exit and 30-40 yard recovery.
