    Info on Interarms Mark X

I traded for one beautiful rifle today but I would like to get some info on it. It is a Interarms Mark X 7mm Rem Mag. The guy told me it had a custom stock on it, and I can find another one just like it searching the internet. It has a Palm swell on it and it is very comfortable to grip. I know that this rifle uses the Mauser 98 action, and that action has been around for a very long time. I actually have a Remington 798 that the action, trigger, and bolt looks identical. I already have a Remintgon 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag. I'm not any kind of sharp shooter, but what is the more accurate rifle?

THe barrel is also stamped W. Batdorf. From what I can tell, he was a gunsmith from the Brenham area.

Also the rifle has a 14" LOP which is 1/2" to long for me. What does a gunsmith generally charged to cut stock & install recoil pad.

Like I said, I already have a Remington 700, and if it cost more than it is worth to me, then I will just put it up for sale.

The Mark X was one of many commercial produced Mauser variants. The Mausers are as good as any Remington, if they have a quality barrel. Not as desirable as a Remington for a benchrest gun, but for a hunting rifle, yes. You'd just have to shoot the rifle with a few different types of ammo to see how it stacks up against the Remington. I like the extractor system on the Mausers better than the Remingtons for hunting rifles, but that's just me..

Those are good guns. I got one just like in in .270 handed down from my grandpa. He bought it new in the late 60's. Their just not as desirable and popular like the Rem 700.

I don't think that's a custom stock. Let me get some pictures to compare.

Yep, the stock looks similar. Does yours have the palm swell on the grip?

I am of the opinion that you can't have too many guns. You will have to shoot it to see if it is any better than the remington.

I think remington has a faster lock up time than the mauser. All things being equal in terms of barrels and stock ect the remington is more accurate due to the faster lock up time. At least thats the way I understand it.

I have that exact rifle in 7mm mag and it is a shooter.

Mine doesn't have a palm swell. It looks like the cheek well is slightly different. That could be a little newer model possibly.

If you decide to sell it, I would be interested.
