    Hunting with Revolver Question

I know this is Texasbowhunter.com and not Texasrevolverhunter.com (no such thing) but I do value the responses and the knowledge that is shared on here.

I have a 454 Casull with a red-dot sight. It is currently sighted in at 25 yards with no light.

Here is the question, should I expect the point of impact of the bullet to change if I attached the sniper hawg lite under the barrel for night hunting?

I am going to the range this weekend to find out but I thought I would poll green screen to see what ya'll think.

    Thanks!

Hopefully the light will survive!! That's some serious recoil right there! I wouldn't expect the poi to change at 25 yards...

To be honest I am not hunting with full power 454 loads. I use a 45 Colt +P load from Underwood Ammo which pushes a 300 grain Hornady XTP at 1300 fps. It is much more manageable and still has plenty of bite.

I wouldn't worry about a change in impact. I'd worry about getting cracked in the skull when that light comes flying off.

I agree. I think you're going to destroy that light, the mount or both.

The muzzle blast and flame coming out of the end of that barrel with those loads is going to be pretty brutal.

I shoot a very similar hand load in mine and it's still pretty dang stout.

Yes. Adding weight to the front will keep the muzzle held down longer, and should cause your shots to hit low. Test it and find out for sure.

I wouldn't worry about the POI changing enough at that distance to make a difference.

That being said, I sure wouldn't want to "limp wrist" that hawg!

If you decide to give it a try, PLEASE have someone stand to the side (at a SAFE distance) and video it! Could be some great entertainment for us survivors!!

Yes, it will likely change the point of impact but hard to say whether it will be low or high because we don't know where in the normal oscillation of the barrel the bullet exits. Now whether the point of impact shift will be significant in practical terms is another matter. Let us know what happens.
