Seller may be acting as the "auctioneer" for an estate. Happens all the time as I use to do this 10-15 yrs ago. The largest collection I helped move had 1250 firearms, all pretty nice custom stuff Took three weeks to inventory everything.

Wealthy business owner dies and has hundreds of guns in his collection. Family cherry picks what they want and requests someone with experience to move these items for a small % .

Some estate heirs have NO desire to own guns, they want jewelry , cars, and liquid assets / cash. Some family members have no clue on firearms value and trust experts to sell their items in question.

My dad bought a BDL 700 custom deluxe in .243 when he was in college (early 80's). It's. Beautiful gun, but it's ridden his truck every day since. He bought it to use, but I'm still trying to convince him to get a cheap beat around gun and try to keep the custom deluxe clean
