    Threading a Tikka T3 Lite

Has anybody ever done this? I have a Tikka T3 in .243 that I am thinking about threading the barrel. I will have to thread it 1/2X? then add an adapter to make it 5/8X24.

Why would you have to thread it 1/2 first? Why not just go 5/8-24 from the start?

Cause the barrel on a lite is probably not thick enough to have enough shoulder for a 5/8x24.

Aquila Firearms in La Porte will do it 1/2 x 28 and an adapter. If I was gonna do mine (243 howa) I would take it to him.

Dint know much about YHM cans but if I was gonna do a lite to use a Surefire on, I would thread 1/2 x 28 and ream a 223 adapter out before I did an adapter.

I think they make a QD 1/2x28. So no need for the adapter. Get to threading

Digging this up, I just threaded my stainless 243 and use my harvester with it. Going to range tomorrow to actually test how well the grouping is with the can added.

                  This ^^^^^

                  I've got a YHM and cut/threaded a Savage in 6.5 Creedmoor and used a 1/2 x 28.
