need to get a new bible

so I remember there being a thread on here a while back that was about the differences and inferences on some of the newer bibles. gonna order a new one off amazon, honestly the only one I have is the little pocket version that was handed to me by the Lions club 10+ years ago as I was driving out of my high school parking lot.

I'm old school Lutheran, but would like an easy reader that still holds the word as it should be, none of this synonym messiah, he junk in place god.

    what say yall on here

ESV is becoming very popular across denominational lines that follows the translation philosophy of the KJV. I would suggest staying away from the newer NIV as a general rule. KJV/NKJV are timeless. HCSB is a good translation that hasn't ever really caught on. NASB is generally considered to be the most literal translation out today.

Here is good summery article. https://bible.org/seriespage/7-translations

I'm a big fan of the New American Standard Bible. The one I have is a master study bible with lots of reference tools.

I have a NIV for the truck, a life application Joyce Myers bible, but the one I study out of most of the time is a Spirit filled NLT bible.
