    Handguard question

Will a 15" handguard work with a suppressor on a 16" barrel? I'm wanting to get a 15" handguard so I can have my bipod as close to the end of the barrel as possible.

Why would it not? Depending on how the handguard is measured, it still shouldn't reach the threads on the barrel. If it does, make sure the ID of the handguard is larger than the OD of the can.

You need a 1" difference between the barrel length and the ACTUAL handguard length to ensure clearance.

The reason for this is: The threads on your barrel are not at the end but threaded onto the barrel... so a 15" barrel the thread shoulder will be sitting in the 14" mark somewhere (depending pattern). Then your suppressor mount has some to do with it as well.. Some suppressors cover the entire mount (and then some) and others just cover the mount.

Some handguards say 15" but they are actually 15.2"... why they don't just say the actual length? I haven't a clue.

A good rule of thumb is 1" of difference. 3/4" may work but might be pushing it.

It should, but make sure. You don't want your can to sit inside the rail, there is always a chance for failure.

        I'm putting a 15" BCM KMR on a 16" Wilson Combat 6.8 barrel.

Thanks for the info guys. I wasn't sure because some suppressors list their length and then the list the length added to the barrel which was less the overall length. Now I would imagine that is because of the threads but I didn't think of that before this.

I'll have a similar setup. I'm getting the lightweight 16" Wilson in a 6.8 as well. I'm wanting to get a AP Custom carbon fiber handguard though

I'm not trying to push the BCM KMR, after all, I just received my first. But, this 15" rail is unbelievably light.

I'll check it out. I'm doing a light weight build so if it's lighter than the AP Custom I may get it

If you're looking at the keymod version of the AP, it is literally half the weight

Rhino keymod is 15.16 and the KMR is 8.1

I'm looking at the Gen II ultra light series.

Chad, I got another question for you or anybody else that can answer this. I've been convinced to go with the BCM KMR handguard. I want to go with the 15" so I can get my bipod mounted as close to the end of my 16" barrel as possible. My question is, will there be enough room to mount my suppressor with this handguard? The handguard max inside diameter is 1.3" & flares to 1.5" outside diameter. The suppressor diameter is 1.5"
I don't know if there will be room to mount the suppressor with the 15" handguard. If that's the case I'll need to go with the 13" handguard

                      Handguard question

The barrel should be exposed before the threads without any issue. Somewhere between a half and three quarter inch prior to the threads should be exposed.
