Careful with this...
On your Form 1, you have to list the barrel length and the caliber of the upper that will be going on the "SBRed" lower.
If you plan on using say, a 10"5 5.56, you will need to contact ATF and register that barrel length and caliber to the "SBRed" lower as well. You will not have to pay another tax stamp, they will just add this info to the already existing paperwork!

You would only have to do that if it's a permanent change. Meaning if you sold the original upper that it was registered with and permanently replaced it with an upper of a different caliber or barrel length.
All other scenarios are considered a temporary change and are not required to notify.

This was the scenario I threw on him to get that answer:
I registered my SBR with a 9" 300BLK
If later I wanted to buy another upper, 10.5" 5.56, could I use it on the same lower and be able to use them interchangeably...
