I just got a Viper HS-T from arrowsmith and it was just a tad over the $500 mark. Super nice scope. I went with EGW rail and rings. This was all going on a Weatherby and not a CZ but still very nice glass and mounts.

I've been looking at both the Viper and Viper HS along with the VX3. can you post a pic or PM me a pic of your rifle?
Sure, no problem. Give me few minutes and it will be up. And on mine I just used the factory rings. They are all steel and solid built, though a bit high (probably to clear the scope eyepiece). My 527 American came with integrated rings/bases, a three round flush magazine, and a 5 round extended magazine.

First thing you will notice is the stock isn't factory anymore, lol. I chopped the heck out of it to put an adjustable buttstock on it for my daughter. I wanted it to fit her, and her be able to shoot it correctly, but I love that rifle and didn't want to give it up either! Best of both worlds as either of us can shoot it now with just a 30 second adjustment. While I was doing that and re-finishing the stock, I got rid of the rounded forend nose and slash cut it to a design I liked better.

Thanks Jethro....The Varmint model doesn't come with rings.. I looked a little and there're only a few company that make rings for the CZ. I also wanted to keep the scope as close as I could to the barrel. Those rings would work perfect with a 50 mm scope.

Go here, and scroll down near the bottom of the page for scope mounts. He has several brands, including his own. Modified bolt handle is also on that page. Calhoon has a ton of stuff for the 527.

Ooops, that link takes you to the main page. Just go to the left and click on the "price list" link and that will take you there.

Varmint model has a 1-9" twist, correct? Mine has the 1-12" twist and just loves the 40-50 grain bullets. 40 V-Max and 50 Dogtown are it's two favorites. The 40 V-max it is throwing at 3500 fps, and it will shoot them into +/- groups of .4" for 3 shots at 100 on a regular basis.

Those little 527's will flat shoot for a wood-stocked, pencil-barreled rifle.

Here is a three shot group I shot at 197 yards just the other day, I was sitting with my back against a post, shooting off a bipod. Not prone, no bench. Just like I would be out calling coyotes.

That is a very highly modified David Tubb piece. Much heavier than I expected, made for high-power shooting, I had to take a ton of aluminum off of it, then I cerakoted it black. Still heavier than I would like, even after taking about half the weight off of it. Adjustable 4 ways.

Find great deals on products that are being discontinued or have slight blemishes.

There are lighter, more compact ones out there. If I had to do it again I would use a different one. Don't get me wrong, the quality is great, and for what it is designed for would be awesome. Just way heavy for my application. Hope that helps.

Oh dang, I was talking about 223 twist rates and forgot you were going with the 17 Hornet.

Should be a fun round to load and play with. I nearly, nearly bought mine in .222, but went with the brass availability of the 223. I love the Deuce, had one before, still second guess myself on it some. But I think a 17 would be a ton of fun too, even though I think I would opt for the 17 Rem. We have a lot of wind up here and I don't think the Hornet case would have quite the juice for what I need.

Ford/Chevy/Dodge. Ask a question like this, and you will get a plethora of answers.

My $.02, SWFA's Super Sniper, or BSA sweet series. I have a BSA (yes, BSA) sweet 22 on my Remington 597. Great glass. SS on my .308. Just depends on what you want to spend.
