Appendix Carry IWB: How Do You Guys Do It? lil help

I carry a G27 daily and would like to appendix carry. I currently carry in either a wildman code 1032 or a Comptac Spartan IWB.

I think I'd like to carry appendix but these two holsters dont do to well up front... I need something a little more on the minimalist side of things.

What does the brain trust suggest?

I don't like the larger IWB holsters that others seem to love like the Code 1032, the Crossbreeds like the Supertuck or the Spartan. They are just too bulky for my carry.

I like the more compact holsters that are just enough leather to old the weapon and cover the trigger. I am currently using the Galco TUC 474 for my M&P .40c which is almost identical to the G27. Unlike those other holsters (except the Spartan) that are fairly large to keep the weapon from actually touching your skin, the TUC and others of that style have the grip against you. That does not bother me at all and I have been carrying there for years, even back to the days when we had to carry revolvers (25 years ago) and I would carry it in appendix with no holster. Unlike some leather or synthetic holsters, the TUC stays open when the weapon is drawn so you can reholster without the need to remove the holster. The TUC sits fairly low in that typically just the grip extends above your belt line. There are likely other holsters that fit like the Galco TUC but I have tried many and that one fit me so I stuck with it.

I understand that a lot of people like the complete coverage of the SuperTuck style holsters but I don't like that much of a holster.

I also at times use a Glocktech MIC holster. That is as minimal as you can get, period. They only cover the trigger and are secured by an adjustable cord.

I had Danny make me this one for appendix carry. I asked for the leather to extend up behind the back of the action so it wouldn't rub on my skin. It's very comfortable and easy to carry.

Remora Holsters are thin and "minimalistic", I carry mine in the wasteband right above my wallet.

Ok the Galco sets low and it appears to be non adjustable... I definetly dont want the pistol riding low and diggind into my leg when I set. is it that low?

The glocktech MIC holster is not for me.. I need a holster with a clip... I think I do at least lol

Thats too big... Seems like a bunch of wasted space on both sides.

Im not seeing a clip.. so it just rides in there on my belt retention? And does it stay open when you draw? or worse does it come out when you draw?

It depends on what you call "that low".

It does not dig into my leg but I am not saying that it won't dig into yours. I guess it depends on your body and how low you wear your pants.

The top of the clip sits on the top of your belt.

They have another called the Stow N Go which is roughly the same minimal holster but with the clip set about 1" lower on the holster or lifting the pistol by that much and away from your leg.

              Interesting looking holster.

I might have to give that one a test run.

Regarding the Remora, I've test pulled mine several times, comes out fine when I draw it and stays holstered when you don't want it to come out. The outside is made of a rubbery like material but the inside is a slicker suede that allows for easy draw. They have add-ons when you order where you can add a clip and a tuckable flap so that you can tuck your shirt into without interfering with the clip. The clip is detachable, I've carried with and without the clip. It stays in place quite well without the clip, the remora material does what it says it does and the holster stays in place. Without the clip it sits deeper in the waist band and creates a larger bulge and takes an extra hole on your belt. I prefer using the clip, seems more comfortable with only the barrel in the waistband and the rest of the gun higher up, plus you don't have to pull the holster out when you sit down to take a crap. It's light weight and a real thin material which was what I found appealing to it. There may be better options available, but thus far this has held up for my needs.

Not into appendix carry, but at the risk of repeating myself, check out the N8 tactical holster. Nothing against your skin. No digging ( if you're fat like me ), no sweat on your gun, just the most comfortable and accessable IWB I've ever worn. Got a drawer full of discards.

It doesn't feel big at all to me. There's no wasted space at all on the trigger side. And only maybe 5/8" for the two screws on top of the slide. Maybe it looks bigger in the picture than it really is. You could have one made out of all leather that just wrapped around the slide, but then you'd need to have a little room on the trigger guard side for a stitched seam. That might make one that was 1/4" or so narrower than mine. It wouldn't have the "click" that kydex gives you, but that's not that big of a deal IWB for me.
