I carry either my Ruger NMBH in 45 Colt or Uberti in 45 Colt. Use hard cast flat nose 250 grain bullets. The old round still works.

I carry the taurus judge, ooo buckshot followed with 45 longcolt . Make sure you file the front sight down first.

Man, i shot a ruger 45acp today along with a 9mm. I really liked the ruger. Had a cop come in and we got to talking about hunting. He said he carrys a glock 23 gen 3 .40 cal pig hunting and loves it. We got a gen 4 and i played with it some. Hope to shoot it sat. Felt good.

Yea the judge is just a really neat gun to have for camp, hunting, fishing, or home defense. I have alot of pistols but i always seem to grab the judge. Love the grip on them.

All I can do is relate personal experience. I have four calibers of pistols. A .380, a 9 mm, a .40 S&W and a .45 acp. Of the four the only one I would even think of carryint as a back up when hunting is the .45 and I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy with it.

I know you didn't ask about revovlers; but, when conditions permit, I'm carrying a .44 Mag. In my instance a Super Black Hawk. I know, it's single action, but getting the gun out and earing the hammer back is pretty much automatic, so no time lost. If I were comfortable with something larger, you can bet that's what I'd be carrying. Admittedly, you can't always be carrying something that physically large so you have to resort to other options.

I've seen way too many guys taking multiple rounds from a 9mm to even think about carrying one, if I had another choice. Same goes for the .40 and I don't have to even briing up the .380. Sometimes you have to carry what you can conceal and the .380 is great for that.
