I have a 788 in 22-250 that has a bad barrel. I am going to put another on it, but I am not sure what my options are. I would really like to put a 260 barrel on it, but don't know if that would be possible. I found some 308 magazines for it, if I need them, but can it be done? If not, what are my options as far as other calibers go?

The bolt face would be the same.. but you have to remember those 788 ' s used weird action sizes.. for example your 22-250 was a short action.
The 6mm and 308 were long actions.
For this reason I'm not really sure where the 260 fits in that realm.
The 6mm is around 2.825" in length.
The 308 is around the same 2.8..
22-250 is 2.35
260 is 2.8...
I'm thinking a 308 magazine won't even fit in your 22-250 with out some mods. and then the action may be too short.
These are just thoughts coming to my head though. I'm curious to know.

6.5x47 should be perfect, have PacNor put a 9 twist on it and run a 123 grain bullet of your choice. The 22-250 mag might need a bit of tweaking but it should work.Comment
