    Finally getting the AR bug

So I've finally been bitten. Thinking about getting a Predator pursuit for me but still not ready to pull the trigger on that one even though it seems to be a decent price.

Also got to thinking about getting or building an entry level AR for my 13 year old. Looking hard at the bushmaster Grab a Gun has, but would rather have the flat top....then I see this. Curious to hear the opinions of you AR guys as to whether this is a good deal or just OK. I realize I will need to pick up a stripped lower as well

Can't go wrong with those PSA deals, all you need is a stripped lower and that kit, a couple tools to put it all together and you're set.

I'd urge you to spend your money more wisely than the rock river arms predator... For what it cost it's not that impressive. It's going to be heavy and personally I think it's uglier than a one piece bathing suit in sports illustrated.

As far as the cheapie entry level for the 13 year old go to walmart and price a few colt AR's.

What are you going to use the rifles for?

The RRA looks fine to me, has great reviews from what I have found and would suit my needs. Predator/Varmint/Range.

Kids would be mostly plinking with some hogs mixed in but didn't want to scrape the bottom of the barrel and go too cheap

I have a 16.5" SS Wilson straight bull barell build... It's accurate no doubt but it's heavy... REAL heavy... I toted it all over Texas last year calling coyotes and decided to build a lighter weight 10.5" 556 SBR.. It's just as accurate but tons lighter and easier to carry. Just sharing my personal experience you do what you want.

I'm only saying that if Varmit hunting is in your future think about a lighter rifle.

No offense intended. Appreciate the feed back.

I've got a DPMS Prairie Panther 223, M&P Ar10 308 and a Daniel Defense Ambush 6.8 SPCII. My bolt gun are safe queens now. I've tried EoTech and a few other red dot style and 4 power optics but I'm not a fan. I've got Vx-R's on all three.

I've got an upper I'm selling if you're interested. ER shaw barrel. Yhm 4 rail handguard and a Rock river a4 flat top upper. Bolt carrier group included. 280 rounds down the pipe. It's a very good shooter and won't break the bank. I'm looking for 500$. If you're interested. You can build a lower to finish it out for around 200$.

Done any research on the 6.8? If not I think you need to look into it. I know everyone gets tired of me recommending the 6.8 but I honestly have never shot a rifle that I was more proud of than my bison 6.8.

WM is overpriced on their Colts.

I did some major searching last night and PSA isn't the only place to find deals depending on what your building. I have bought from them before and got good deal and fast shipping. My next build I am looking at either Redbarnarmory, Kerrisguns and some others on the web.

I bought a cheapo AR kit off of cheaper than dirt and put it together and it does great. When I built it I was only hoping to get 1.5" groups at 100yds. Sure enough it does shoot about that. For me, an entry level AR is what I was looking for and it's what I got. So it kinda just depends on what your expectations are.

Some guys are not okay with spending under $700 for a rifle. And that's okay. They've probably got a better quality rifle and I'm cool with accepting it. Mine does great for my expectations and serves it's purpose well. Haven't had a pig yet that could tell the difference.
