    Need a red dot for a 243

Operation get my 7yo daughter her first deer next season is under way.

What I have: Cut down 243 that is heavy. Reduced recoil shells.

What I need: Quality red dot that can deal with the recoil. My daughter wears contacts/glasses. Looking through a traditional scope is hard on her. She has been really good with her .22 and a cheapo red dot.

I dont mind spending $300-400 on a good one with some magnification.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

Aim point pro are pretty good but no magnification.

Jeff, I think you can get an aimpoint at the top of your price range or very close. Have you had your daughter look through a traditional style scope with an illuminated reticle? You may want to see if she can get comfortable doing that as it opens your options; however, it may open your wallet wider as well.

Thats a good point and something I am going to look in to as well. Im not afraid to spend a little coin as she has a younger brother and three younger cousins that will all want to shoot it over the next several years.

Main goal with any optic I end up with is to eliminate as much as I can when she is aiming. I figure a single dot would be easier than crosshairs.

I have not looked at vortex etc. but do know they offer illuminated. My Khales illuminateds are awesome and very bold. Even better illumination than my Z6is. I have seen some Leupold illuminated low powers go very reasonably on accuratereloading.com etc. Maybe swing by Cabelas and see how she does with one and look for a used one if she likes them.
