I want a silencer for my 6.8 ar15. I want one that I can use on multiple guns, lightweight and not super long in length. what should I be looking at?

I have a Saker 762 because I have a 6.8 SBR ... if not for that I would have been just as happy (and ~$1200 richer) with using my Harvester on a 16" 6.8 AR. The Harvester is much lighter, cheaper, and it works great. I've also run it on a 20" Savage/ARP 6.8 and on a 24" 260 Rem. It's not technically "hearing safe" (I don't believe ANY suppressor with supersonic ammo is) but it is comfortable to shoot for the limited numbers of rounds you would shoot in a deer hunting situation.

how much difference in sound did the suppression make with your 6.8
seems like it would still be pretty loud. or at least loud enough to spook the animals when you shoot due to the supersonic ammo
i have been interested in one, but had thought i needed a 300 blkout with subsonic ammo to take advantage of the suppressor

Really.
Mine is going on 2 years and hasn't been anywhere but to the blind, range and on the end of my gun.Last edited by Mike D; 12-08-2014, 03:50 PM.

If you are trying to shoot them bow blind close, nothing is going to be quiet enough not to spook them.
Supersonic and they are gonna spook at almost any reasonable range. Subsonic probably wouldn't spook them bad at 100 yards but you better know if your sighted in or not and don't expect dramatic kills at all unless head shooting.
