17hmr barrel length

I just got a new ruger 77/17 with a 24" barrel. I planned on threading it but would like to cut it down to keep over all length down. I am thinking is like to cut it to 18" but not sure if it would be too much to cut off. What do y'all think?

You'll be fine with an 18" tube

The 17 Hummer doesn't lose much velocity as barrels are shortened

You should be around 2522 fps with 18" barrel
