Another Scope Question

It seems there have been a lot of these threads lately so why not one more.

I'm looking at Long Range Tactical scopes and will likely go with the Leupold Mark 4 6.6-20x50.

What else is out there in that price range, options and quality build?

The only things I don't like about the Mark 4 is the Mil dot reticle and no zero stop...

This will be going on a Cooper in 280 with 6-700 yards being the most I'll shoot.

I know that many will point to the NF NXS as the measuring stick by which all scopes of this type are measured but that's more that I'd like to spend and also heavier.

BTW-Optics Planet has the Mark 4's at 12% off right now.

i just switched to a viper PST 6-24x50 ffp for my 7-300wsm. Once you get your head wrapped around mils as opposed to MOA you'll see its a better system.

The PST cost a little under $850 and so far meets all the expectations i had. no complaints so far.

Look at the TMR reticle...I like it a lot better than mildot!

Thanks, if I go the Leupold it will be the TMR reticle.

You already know what i think. My only change to your idea would be to buy it from the custom shop and get an MOA reticle installed such as the TMOA or TS28x1 reticle.

I didn't think about that, would I paying full retail for that?

You can get any used one and send it to them and i believe it is $150ish to install the ones i mentioned into your current scope.

OR you can buy a vx3LR and do the same with the reticle AND get M1 turrets installed.... The vx3LR has more adjustment than the mk4 due to tube thickness also.... same glass
