Rifled shotgun question

If I buy a shotgun with a rifled barrel can I still shoot regular shotgun shells through it? Or does it have to be slugs?

rifled slugs only. regular slugs could mess up the barrel .
I have a Mossberg 500 setup just for this reason because our property is only 120 acres ..so if I have more than 1 person with me we generally bow hunt it but if its just 2 of us then well bring out the shot guns / ar's usually let my friends who are new to hunting use the shot gun ..

For best results....Shoot birdshot and such thru a smoothbore choked barrel....Shoot Sabot slugs in a rifled barrel....Shoot rifled slugs in an open choked smoothbore barrel....

Bad info there... Rifled slugs thru a SMOOTH bore. Sabot slugs thru a fully rifled barrel.

Do not shoot birdshot thru a rifled barrel. Put's a new meaning on scattergun.
