    Binocular help

Looking to buy some binoculars. I have some Leopold 8x42 rogues I think, nothing special. Looking to upgrade to something that might be clearer at low light, also going to a 10x. What's some good binoculars for 600$ and under. I Have heard some good things about the vortex lines.

I've been happy with my cabelas 10x42 XTII's low light performance has been very good. But I'm also used to cheap bjnos so I'm not sure how they stack up against other brands.

Get with Arrowsmith on here and get a pair of Vortex binos. Great glass for a great price.

Wife bought me a pair of Nikon Monarch 7's in 10x42 and they work great in low light conditions. She said they were around 500.00

Leupold Mojave is your answer. Crystal clear glass for under $550.

Well, just recommending Vortex sounds great, but the quality really varies from model to model. The Diamondback's are not worth the $ IMO, but the Vipers are a really good deal. Gotta consider the model, and not just the brand.

2nd the opinion on the Leupold Mojave's. Not much better bang for the buck out there.

My go-to bin's at the moment are a light and sharp pair of Sightron Blue Sky SII's in 8x32. I owned a pair of 10x42 Zeiss Conquests at the same time, and ended up selling my Zeiss, I liked the Sightron's so much.

Lots of good choices out there right now. Don't overlook the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD series. Lots of folks think they are a superb value with premium glass. I have their 10x25 compacts, and sold a pair of Leica compacts after getting them. They're that good.

Usually "you get what you pay for" is correct, but not always in optics. There are some real bargains to be had if you know where to look.

Getting back to Vortex, their Viper line is the least expensive models I'd consider. Nothing they make below that is all that good.

You're also giving up resale value on the Vortex compared to another premium brand.

If I had $299 and wanted a full sized pair of binos right now, I'd get a pair of Zeiss Terra ED's - they are on sale for that price all over right now, and they are very good.

Sorry, that was the 8x42 - which I'd still heartily recommend at that price.

Did I mention how much I love my Sightron 8x32's ?

Had them out again on the way home this evening in the cold gray drizzle and I'm still just dumbfounded at how good they are. Could easily see the facial markings on a flying Northern Harrier about 300 yards away across a farm field.

They have 14 out of 14 5-star reviews for a reason.
