Is the 22TCM a new caliber?

And what are your thoughts on it?

Thursday night, me and my wife's ex stripper cousin's boyfriend were talking guns and he mentioned this caliber. I'm not an expert on guns, by any means, but I thought I'd at least "heard" of most calibers and this one I had not.

It's a cool looking cartridge ... I think I'm drawn to it cause it's short and fat.

40 grain projectile at about 2800 fps. Could be a fun gun.

They are a sweet guns to shoot. I have been thinking about one myself. Shot one a few weeks ago and really surprised on the groupings at 200 yards with it! Absolutely zero recoil. You can also get a 1911 that shoots it.

It's been around a couple years. It is smokin fast and a blast to shoot. We have shot a steel car wheel at 25 yards and it blows right through it.

Just buy the FN 5.7 and be done. Pretty close to the same but the 5.7 is more available LOL.

cartridge has been round for 3-4 yrs , 40 gr pill is launched around 2000 fps (pistol)

only 1 company makes ammo , I don't see this cartridge making it in the long run

K what is your intention ... personal defense, plinking, or hunting ?

He is short on ideas and short on time for a small package christmas gift. SO his short term plan is to buy a tiny little pistol round and have some small fun with a cool christmas gift but stay on a small budget.

            Im bored. Dont judge me.

Good assessment but perhaps a bit short sighted......

How long did it take you to come up with that response, Matt?

I just like getting different stuff. I have guns in my safe that I've never shot. Not because they're some super special fancy gun, I just haven't shot them.

Blake, I don't know what I'd do with it. Could be a varmint gun if Sutton ever sends me a formal invite to coyote hunt up there in Yankee, Texas.

                    That's what I'm talkin' about!

I've never seen ammo, on the shelf, but then again I never looked for it.
Does anyone know if there's a way to "make" brass for this gun, like you can for a 300BO?

Its built off a 9mm case so probably. Seems more trouble than its worth.

It is based off the 9 but I don't think you could make it from 9 brass as it appears to short. I could be totally wrong though.

Ok quick search shows I was wrong. 9mm case is too shot. Its based off the .223 Remington case. So yea. You could just shorten and neck down. Probably have to turn the necks. Still seems like a buncha trouble.

Rock Island makes a 1911 that you swap out barrels on (I believe) and are able to shoot both 9mm and 22 TCM. They have them at AJC sports in Katy.
