Which rifle for mule deer?

I too would take the 6.5. But I have killed them just fine with a 300 win and a 180 accubond and a 185 VLD.

Which one do you shoot the best with? That's all that matters. A howitzer won't help if it doesn't go where its supposed to. Fancy and\or nostalgic guns are great for every day hunts, but if I were going on a "Special" hunt, I am taking my .243 as it is the best shooting gun I own, and my confidence level is through the roof with that rifle. I do have larger calibers that are better suited for the bigger game and the longer ranges, but it all boils down to confidence. I know what I am capable of with that gun.
