    Hornady SST 130gr for a 270

Any Opinion on this round? This is what my rifle is sighted in with but I have heard some mixed reviews so I am second guessing myself. Thoughts?

    Mixed reviews about ????

This bullet will do the job just as well as a smaller bullet, AS long AS it's put in the proper place.

Most of the bad reviews were lack of expansion.

I have heard of lack of expansion on long distance shots when the velocity has fallen off, but that could happen to any bullet. Plenty of deer have died to SST's. If your gun likes them, I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

I shoot them exclusively out of my .270 it loves them and I have yet to have them not expand. Shot a couple pigs, probably 10 to 12 does, and probably 6 or 7 yotes with them. None of them so much as twitched after impact and all expanded just fine. With shots ranging from 30 out to my farthest a muley doe little over 350 and it still expanded even at that distance and lots of those does were muleys and a good portion of them around the 200 to 225 yard mark. My sister has shot a couple of whitetail does with it as well and none of hers moved either.

Look at my avatar, killed with that exact round. Front brisket shot at 137 yards. Killed several more since then and have never been let down.

Will add that I am running the superformance variety through mine.

One last thing and not sure if y'all can answer but if I am sighted in at +1.5 high at 100yds shouldn't that put me dead on at 300. The box says +1.2 dead on at 200. Thanks

This is all I shoot out of my .308 with 180gr. 99% of the time whatever is on the receiving end will not take a step.

Usually it doesn't pass thru the deer but it's not a problem cause the SST blows up inside the animal and I've never seen one move more than 5 yds.

Been shooting it since it first came out. No problems behind the shoulder.
