What ever you do, go with something like Keg and get rid of those factory rings. They're the only weak point of the rifle IMO.

i have a zeiss conquest 3x9 on my thompson 25-06 and it's by far my favorite combo in my safe. longest kill to date 325 yds.
great glass and a fun long range round.

Keep an eye out on camofire.com for the Zeiss, in fact you might even send customer support an email or call them at 801-676-9631. They can do a deal on the side with you if they have any left in stock.

Stick with leupold or zeiss for what you are wanting. They make some great glass in that price range. I haven't been much of a fan of vortex.

What did you not like about them, out of curiosity? I have a lot of Leupy glass because of a sponsorship deal but I opted to try some Vortex binos and I've been super impressed - I think they're a lot better than the comparably priced Luepolds. I could have had the Luepolds a lot cheaper but I liked the Vortex glass better, in that case. I haven't owned a Vortex scope yet but I figured the glass from those binos would be indicative of the scope glass; and the (vortex) scopes I've looked through sure SEEMED nice, especially for the price. So, I'm just curious what you didn't care for?
