    Double Barrel Shotgun Search

Decided that it is time to add a nice double to the safe. Have my trusty pump from my 11th birthday, and just added a semi auto workhorse(matte finish/synthetic) to the safe last year. Now it is time for something that looks really sharp to be brought out for the Skeet shooting and dove hunting.

I think I am still going to stick with a 12 gauge, though I had considered a 20.

I want this to be a fine looking shotgun that will be a great family heirloom.

I am wanting to keep it from $1,500-$2,500, but would go to $3,000 for the perfect gun(fantastic woods, nice engraving, color case hardened, and great shape).

Used is the way I am going to go. I may have to have some finish work done down the line to get what I want now in my price range, but am ok with that. I have looked at a lot of new guns now, and what I am happy with is in the $4,000-$5,000 range. That is simply more than I can do.

I have been looking the most at some Beretta's(686's mostly), Browning Citori, and B.Rizzini. Any thoughts here or other suggestions?

I have a Browning Citori Lightning. It's a nice gun, nothing fancy. I've gotten into skeet shooting lately and was wanting a new over/under and the price of a clays gun is crazy!

You aren't kidding. As bad as I want a Perazzi or a krieghoff it's just not gonna happen at this stage of my life.

Take a look at Fox. The older ones are way up in price before Savage bought the company. They have several grades that you can buy as well. And are a huge step up from the Savage 311. Really nice engravings. Single or double gold triggers. Mine makes for an excellent dove gun with full and full in a 2-3/4" 12ga. chambers. I've also used it to duck hunt with a few times. Mostly in the early teal season. All I have to do is get the dove or teal between the barrels and their usually down.

I'm sure you can find one in your price range. And can always become a collector .

Only problem I've had with Fox is getting my hands on one. Never have come across any.

Winchester doesn't fit me, comb is too high.

That is a beauty! But my dad has had so much trouble from a weatherby shotgun and their gunsmiths I couldn't bring myself to buy one. He might disown me.

Understand that, this is my first one and only had in a few months. Haven't had any issues. Good luck

I should clarify, his issue was on one of their pumps. From reviews and other sources it seems to be a design issue they don't care to fix. On something the level of which you purchased, I'm sure no such thing would be an issue. Your gun is an absolute beauty, and I would expect to have no issues.

This is one that fits me quite well, especially with a straight stock. It also really speaks to me. I found an older one that really speaks to me, and is at a great price.

You can't go wrong with a Citori. I really like the 725s that came out 2 years ago. The Beretta 687 line is also really great. Good Luck in your search.
