300 blk out on a bolt action rig. surpresses like no other and that round will knock em down for sure. low power scope for follow up shots and youre good.

GAU-8 avenger.... hands down, best pig Killin gun in existence.

If you want them intact however. ..

My brother has a single shot H&R in .45-70 cut down to 16.5" put a 1-4 leupold shotgun scope on it and it is a hoot to shoot pigs with and it will keep a 1.5" group at 100 and less than a 3" group at 200. And if you are decent you can shoot it dang near as fast as a bolt action.

            Now this sounds fun ^^^

I hadn't really thought about a 300 blk but that just may be the ticket. Will a 300 blk punch one pretty hard? I've seen some videos of hunting with a 300 blackout but a few of them seem to run off. I'm hunting with a .257 roberts right now, i've shot 5 hogs in the past week and not one has took a step.

I don't understand you guys using .22 caliber rounds. I don't want to have to worry about having to put it behind his ear. I want him falling no matter where i hit him.

Ruger 10/22. I don't know how many pigs I've killed with this gun over the years. Definitely not the best caliber but I love shooting stuff with my 22.

Not really what I had in mind but the .45-70 lever action looks like a sweet rig too.

Whatcha think? I need two guns?

One I wanna find is a Ruger 10/44 carbine. It would hammer pigs like no other, and would be a sweet conversation piece too.

It's all about shot placement. You're not going to drop them in their tracks just anywhere you hit them. Head, neck or high shoulder shot with any high power rifle and they will drop in their tracks.

My go-to is a M-70 Featherweight in .22.250 and it has never let me down. Having said that, I hunt feeders at night with lights and set up 100-125 yds away and shoot off a bipod or my truck's outside mirror, and "choot 'em in de ear" and they are DRT.

Don't know if it's the best but mine is a Browning model 81 lever action in a .243
