    Ruger .44 Carbine Upgrade

Posted this gun in "What did you buy today" thread a few days ago. Got a semi-inlet stock from Boyd's ($74), fitted it and finished it. It was more inletted than I thought it would be and took little prep for finishing. I also got one of their thin pads ($7.50) since it came with a hard butt plate. Shipping was $16.24, so <$100 all together. Pictures speak for themselves.

That's the plan--5 round of 240 grain as fast as you can pull the trigger.

That is a big improvement in that gun. I had the same gun for years and it would literally shoot 1 hole ragged groups with my reloads. Sold it and bought a 458 Socom. That 44 mag is a hog thumper.

I love those .44 carbines ! I had one of the old style back before they quit making them (newer models were reintroduced at a later date). Wish I had never traded it. But if I hadn't, I prob wouldn't have got-n into the T/C Contenders . I'll pick up another .44 carbine sometime, just for fun. And to add to my collection.

No, this is the original tube magazine gun. They started making them in 1966 or so. This one was made in the early 70's. The Deerfield was made in the 1980's, I think. It had a removable mag and looked more like a Mini-14.

Thats my favorite rifle I own. Thanks for the heads up on the stock. I may upgrade later, but it shoots so well that I dont want to mess with it.

Treat it gently, parts are hard to come by for those older guns. That's why I sold mine. That stock look awesome on that gun, need a matching 10/22 to go with it.

Looks great. Boyds makes some nice stuff. The right prices too.
                        Good luck with the carbine,.

Now you need to have the barrel threaded and suppress it! 300 grains of XTP hollowpoint right at 1100 FPS is some bad bad pig medicine.
