Also if it is sitting on bags make sure it is resting on the forearm and not the barrel.

I "control" the rifle. My .25-06 it is almost free recoil, my 7-mag, a little more control, but only enough to keep it from jumping out of my hands.

X2. I only touch the gun enough to get it against my shoulder and get on target and squeeze.
My left hand holds the rear bag and controls the movement up and down and left and right from the rear. Gentle pressure changes a lot.

My .30-06 has not much muzzle rise, so I typically wrap my arm under the rifle and place my left hand on my right forarm, when I'm shooting for groups.

My .30-30 has less push, and more jump, so I typically put the bag under the forearm just in front of the reciever, and gently grip/squeeze the receiver just enough to keep it from jumping off the bag. I'll typically then follow up with a "field shot" with it resting on my left hand like it would be in the stand.

Torquing is no good, let it recoil the way it wants.

It shouldn't rise. It should push straight back, if it's not then it's your technique that is putting torque into the equation.

I shot it again last night.
I'm not a sniper, but I hope this'll put a big hole in a bear.

That is good enough to kill anything you want out to around 250. Past that you really need to know your rifle, load and have lots of practice. Also don't clean that thing (cept for powder fouling) till you finish hunting

Nope....when I shoot to sight in the only points of contact are my shoulder/butt pad and my hand grip.

I let all my rifles free recoil. If it's placed on your shoulder and bagged up properly the only movement should be straight back.
