    AR-15 trigger

I am looking to replace the trigger in my Remington R-15 .223 cal. I use the gun for hunting varmints and target shooting primarily. I do not like the factory trigger at all because I think it is heavy and has a lot of creep. I am considering either a CMC 3.5 lb or a Timney 3 lb drop in trigger. I prefer a single stage trigger. Looking on opinions from folks who have either or both of these triggers on the pro's / con's of each before I make the purchase. Thanks.

Timney..simple drop in and works great. I used to have trigger jobs done but now I just put Timney 2lbs in all of my firearms.

Bud you are in the same boat I am. This is something I need to do as well. Mine is in .30RAR but it shoots great. The trigger is not horrible but it's not great either.

I installed timney triggers in RRA and Sig Sauer AR's
        Simple and work excellent

They're both good triggers, I personally think the CMC (also marketed as Slide-Fire) is a tad crisper. Another good one is the JARD adjustable trigger.

I have had the opportunity to dry-fire a rifle with the 3.5 # CMC Flat trigger and it felt much better than my factory trigger. Is there much difference in feel between the 3# pull on the Timney vs the 3.5 # pull of the CMC?

                I love my CMC.

                it is very crisp.

                  Another vote for the Timney.
I got some of the first ones way back in the day (before they wanted an arm and a leg for them!)

CMC or Hiperfire. I love my 24C

For those of you with the Timneys do you have any problems with the trigger pins migrating out or light primer strikes? I'm just not sure if I like the way that the Timneys use the stock trigger pins and the set-screws to hold the trigger in place. Thanks for all the opinions.

I have the same Timiney's in all my AR's including the AR-10 (heavier version). They are pretty much idiot proof and I like them very much. I hated the 2 stage triggers too. Stock pins and set screws are not a problem at all. There's no way they'll ever move if you put them in just as the instructions say. I've got thousands and thousands of rounds fired with them without issue.

                            Same as Saltwater...

Never had a problem with walking trigger pins or light primer strikes (I reload using Rem 7 1/2 primers).

I have sent three factory triggers to Bill Springfield in Colorado. He takes the factory trigger and takes out all the creep and that nasty factory AR trigger pull. I have my hunting ARs done at 3lbs. and I love them, plus Its around $60 for the trigger job.
