    Possibly selling my S&W 1006

I need advice from the GS....

I have a Smith & Wesson 1006 that I may sell. It is a fixed sight model with 4 clips. It doesn't have the original grips, but a set of Hogue instead. I also have a hogue slip on also. I have 4 clips (2 yellow feeder 2 white). It is in good shape but was a carry weapon for a Border Patrol agent so it isn't a show piece. No rust or blemishes, but common use marks. I also have around 150-200 rounds including home defense and target.

The biggest problem is that I am not sure how much it is worth. I know prices for these high powered tanks has gone up. With the information provided can someone please give me a fair market asking price? I hate to get rid of it, but it seems to becoming a collector piece as they disappear and I am not a collector.

Compared to guns these days this one holds the claim that if you run out of bullets you could beat an intruder to death with it. Lol

Thanks for the input guys and gals.

Don't sell it...but if you must then gunbroker is a good guide for prices:

      http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx...rds=s%26w+1006

Also, screw using it as a collector's piece, it's made for nuclear 10mm loads, use it as such (that's what I do with mine).

Looking at a couple auction websites for completed sales, 600-800 is what almost NIB with original papers/box were sold at. Depending on what your finish looks like would dictate final price. Good luck in selling, I've always liked those pistols

With the magazines it should be worth between $650-700 in the condition you describe.

That was the price range I was thinking, but it seems like every other auction I see they are inflated to over $1000. And I am not talking BNIB. It just seemed like the price had gone up, but I couldn't imagine a raise like that. Thanks for the info.

Are you looking at completed auctions? I see those prices as well. Sometimes I think they have some buddies bid them up to a crazy price hoping a sucker will jump in.

Mint condition new in box with papers might bring a grand.

Some of those might be former FBI guns which bring a premium.

How can you tell? I am guessing it wouldn't have FBI stenciled on the side.
