    Tikka T3 .308 ammo?

Do any of you guys shoot a Tikka T3 in .308? Im having trouble finding ammo that groups well with this rifle. What im trying to avoid is buying 5-6 boxes of ammo, using just a few shells of each and never touching them again. Just curious to see what you guys thought of this. Using a led sled, I cannot get groups less than 4" at 100 yards so far using 150 gr American Whitetail, or Corelokts. Should I try a heavier load?
It shouldn't be my scope, its a brand new Prostaff 4-12X42

even with cheap-o ammo your tikka should print better than that, re-check everything

I wish I did, I am currently researching some equipment on reloading. I finally got my shop built and have the space to put up a work bench.

That was my initial thought. They come with a 1" guarantee out the box.
I might have got a lemon scope. Maybe it is cantered some way or my reticle is bouncing after the recoil.

Any specific projectile? grain, bullet type?
I primarily hunt whitetail and a simple 150 grain soft point is more than enough, but i will be going on a Stag hunt in October. Do i need a heavier or solid core bullet?

Well, finally figured out my problem with the grouping. I had a faulty set screw on the front scope ring. It would tighten down, then pop loose after a shot.
I got it fixed and the hornady ammo i had grouped perfect. I even tried one shot of Fusion 165 gr. in the bottom right diamond.

Good deal. I was was gonna say to check all screws. Those guns come with a 1:11 twist so all 150-165 gr bullets should be decent. Just gotta find the load it loves

yeah I figured it was something with scope or mounts, glad to hear that. I've got a t3 in .270 and its absolutely the best shooting gun out of the box ive ever seen. gimme a lead sled and I bet itll touch 3 holes at 100

Was gonna suggest checking and tightening scope mounts. Glad you figured it out.
The Tikka T3 is a great firearm. My son has a Lite .308 Stainless with synthetic stock and it's a tack driver!

My tikka didn't group hornady or core lockt very well, it's groups federal fusion 165 great.

Rascal, that is exactly the rifle i have. My dad brought the lead sled home with him this morning. So these shots were off a table using a towel as a barrel rest. Im pretty happy with it.
My wife has the T3 hunter in 30-06 snd that joker is sweet. It will punch 3 holes in less than 1/2" with HSM ammo.
