Which factory load for .300 A-bolt do you like?

My buddy is shooting his new A-bolt .300. Been a .308 guy for decades. Which factory loads do you like best for deer? He hunts in Kansas where reaching out to 500yds is a possibility.

Polymer tip? Lead core?

My 300 abolt...likes the nosler. Partition. In 180 grain....shoots very well out to 500 yards...

If I did not reload I would contact chad at dallas reloads. I believe he still sells packs of 5 different loads with 5 rounds each. Shoot those an see which one shoots best then buy a some from him. Not sure on pricing as I have not bought from him in quite a while but I know he is no more expensive than most of the higher end OTC ammo. I think you have to buy them 100 rounds at a time after you figure out the load your rifle likes.

Or you can send him the rifle and he will develop a specifically for your rifle. I THINK it costs about $200-$250 for that service depending on what bullet/brass you want to go with. Expensive but if you want the most accurate round you can get without reloading yourself it might be worth it.

For that range I would go with 165 gr Balistic Tip

We were looking at the 150-165gr bullets. And he likes what the ballistic tips have done in the past at 200+yds

Keep suggestions to factory off the shelf loads, guys. We are not hand loaders.

Nosler Custom 180gr Accubonds

When shooting a 300 wm shoot the big pills. No point in running a 150-165 grain pill. It's got the horsepower to push 180s a long way and knock stuff down hard.

For factory ammo, look at the nosler trophy grade 180 accubond

I like the 180 Accubonds too. Although if you can find some 190 gr Accubonds, that would be ideal.

My 300 wsm loves 180 accubond. Holds 5" groups at 500 yards.

If he is reloading then this recipe works very good in mine. Cci 250 primer under 75.5 grains of Imr 7828 topped with a noseler 165 grn partition seated to mag length.
