Needs a BDC system, on a rifle for a desert bighorn hunt(primarily bowhunting but packing in 7mm-08 as a backup to shoot under 400 yards, $150 or under.

The Pentax gameseeker is a very underrated scope---especially for the money. I have one on my .243 and would buy another in a heartbeat. I think i like it better than my nikon prostaffs. But Minox hands down of those four.

If you forget the variable power stuff and the bdc, you can probably find a good scope in your price range. Not sexy, but will do the job. 400 Yds seems a little dicey to me, but if that's what you need a fixed 6 power should be fine. I've been using a fixed 4 power since 1966 (same scope, just change rifles. Old 4X Redfield). On my varmint gun (.223) I have a fixed 6 power Tasco that I picked up in Hong Kong in 1977. Think it was made in Japan, but not sure. Still works fine. Sometimes simple and old school works.

I remember scouting desert rams in se ca and sw az and it was pretty easy to get within 200 yds. They usually siloueted themselves on top of the cliff. The problem was when the heat was building in the morning the wind was always at your back up the cliff. Needed to wait until evening when the wind reversed.

I know, I just added to the confusion.

I have a redfield accurange and the glass on the redfields are phenomenal. If they made higher power scopes I would replace my vortex - I think its that good. Only downside is the clicks on the turrets are not crisp but since I rarely have to adjust them its not that big of a deal.

I have both and nikon is what I have bought for the last two rifles I have bought. Better eye relief and gather light a little better

Of those 4 have dealt with vortex redfield and nikon. I would get the redfield as it is holding up the best in my opinion.

All the scopes mentioned are very good...just revisited the original thread and have previously commented. What it really boils down to IMO is:
1. What your budget says you can afford?
2. How it "feels, clarity, eye relief, how it will look on your rifle, etc."
3. Do you buy based on Name Brand or will you take the time to "hold, look, research and ask opinions as you are doing?"

I already posted what I like and in years past I had ALL these brands mentioned. IMO just decide what OPENS up with clarity when you "snap" your rifle up to get that Big One! MOST if not all brands have a "life time warranty" and even THIS statement will get complaints about customer service, etc.
