Either a Remington Versamax or towards the cost of a S&W M&P 10.

What do you have to start with?

A good 1911 be it STI or Dan Wesson is more than $1,000.

        If I didn't have a reloading set-up I would do that.

If I had $1,000 it would either go to a savage LRP or buying a bunch of small stuff I need like bi-pods, spare mags, two point tac sling, night sights for my 1911 and glock 17 and stuff like that.

Assault shotgun? Sounds like a title the liberals baked up while eating gluten free , dolphin safe, low cholesterol, high fiber, no artificial preservatives added, sucrose injected, hypo allergenic, sugar free, whole grain, in heavy syrup, Fat free, All natural, 0g Trans fat, Made with real fruit and real cheese, bacon flavored gluten.

            LIBERALS MAY CONTAIN NUTS.

As far as guns go, I've got rifles, pistols, at-15. Always wanted long range rifle, ar-10, semi auto rifle, lever action, 1911...

AWWWW Man I thought we were going with one BIG purchase... yall are going to nickle and dime your 1K away before you even realize it... the small stuff like bi pods, mags, slings, reloading equipment, etc are things you just acquire throughout a few months of watching classifieds and finding sales here and there. When you finish you dont have much to show for it, the little things go un noticed alot.

If it were me I'd be writing 1 or 2 BIG checks and getting something custom and cool. I definitely wouldn't spend 1200 bucks on a rem 700 5r when I could get a custom rifle with better parts for the same money. JMO

Get yourself a suppressor. That makes lots of your current guns cooler.

A down payment on a original Sharps 45-70. More for a collectors item and the history that came with it.

Kimber Desert Warrior. Might need a few more bucks but that's the ultimate 1911. Will be my next purchase.

                              My thoughts exactly!

Good choice by the OP. With $1K, you can get one heck of a nice start! Once you start, it becomes highly addicting, time consuming, and, well, worth it! Its just as much fun as arrow making
