I have a fixed 10x42 SWFA on my 6.5 Creedmoor. No problems with it at all.

Yes sir, that's why my scopes have AO. Leave high and focus low

Leupold 6x42 is my favorite for anything that can cover some distance and Leupold M8 3x is my favorite for closer range thumpers.

This was the same set-up I had on my Dad's pre 64 Winchester too. It was dead on and "almost always" resulted in a DRT. Son has it now...

I got a few of em... SWFA fixed 10x with parallex.... very hard to beat this scope if you know anything about scopes. Its only con is the 42mm objective... it doesnt collect enough light for night time shooting under a spot light.

Always figure that if I need a quick shot it may be close and possibly moving and don't want to have to crank the scope down. On longer shots I've always had the time to crank it up if needed.

                      OP, I've got a straight 4X on a 6.5X55 that's not going anywhere!

Great thinking. I too am guilty of keeping it high. I like to see up close I guess. I don't need to see everything. Just the hair I plan on splicing don't take too many quick shots.

On average I keep my variable scopes around 8-10x. In low light conditions I drop them to lower to get a better contrast and wider fov. For longer shots or setting shots at the feeder I'll crank em up to full power.

For these reasons I love the 6.5-20 leupold's. 6.5 is plenty low for low light conditions and 20 is great at picking a spot to shoot.
4.5-14 is a great budget scope for a rifle that doesn't get shot alot but 4.5 is too low even in low light conditions and 14 leaves a little too be desired.
8.5-25 is awesome for a rifle you shoot primarily in the light but 8.5 isn't low enough sometimes with low light conditions. 25 x is awesome. A Coyote will fill the fov at 350 yards.

The VX6 line would be awesome to step into as it fills the voids but at the current is not worth the extra money for me.

All that said the non variable scopes aren't good for me. If you have variable scope and go hunting with one that isn't you wish it was pretty quickly.

In 1963, I bought a Sako Forrester 243 and scoped it with a Weaver K 6 . There is no telling how many animals have bitten the dust with this combo and it will still hold 1inch 3 shot grouping at100 yards.
