    Glock front sight

So I just replaced my factory Glock 17 sights with Ameriglo steel sights. When I took of the factory plastic sight I noticed a bit of oil under it but didn't think much of it. I went ahead and installed the Ameriglo front sight, straightened it, and tightened. Everything is done and put away now. My question to you is should I go back and unscrew the front sight to remove the oil under it so it doesn't cause the sight to loosen?

I typically wipe it off when I swap sights, but it will just reoccur when you clean it next. Just watch the front sight screw for the next 100 rounds or so and you will be fine.

Wouldn't worry about the oil. I had night sights put on my Glock and shot a few hundred rounds through it no problem. Shot a handgun class with 600 rounds and no problem then part way into another handgun class with 500 rds my front sight went flying during one of the last runs we were making. Like to have never found it. Put it on tight and a few hundred more rounds with the wife and it came loose during her CHL class. Snugged it up so she could finish and then at home added a drop of low strength locktite and it's good as gold now.

Cool, thanks guys. I think I may use some low strength loctite on it. Now just to get to the range!!

Purple is best if you can find it, I usually settle for blue. Never red!!

When I install sights (I do dozens every month) I wipe it down with a little alcohol pad and then install it. I use blue loctite to keep it in place. (same on the rear sight)

If I was you I would take out the screw and put some loctite in the sight/ on the screw. Losing your front sight in a gun fight is kind of a big deal lol. I don't like to take any chances.
