Friend of mine just built one from PSA and it is a great shooting gun. He bought a blemished stripped lower but a different upper. You cant find the blemish on the lower anywhere. It all fit together great. With a vortex strike fire red dot on his he is getting about a 2" group at 100 yards. But he has only been to the range with it once. I imagine he could get better and if he had a scope on it he could get better groups.

With PSA, you could build one, of better quality than this, for around 500 if you shop the sales.

All depends on what you want. You could have a 3k AR if you wanted. I dont think you would be able to build one or buy a complete one cheaper than this.

With shipping and FFl fee im in for $495 on one AR from PSA. Ive shot 300 rounds of steel without issues yet, I would shoot more but a lil strapped on cash and I hate seeing ammo disappear from my stash lol. The upper is PTAC as well, shot 1 moa at 100 yards with some handloads my buddy had. So far I have no cimplaints.

I would buy this over a 700 dollar academy gun and spend the left over money on optics/upgrades down the road. I don't think you will see a practical difference between this and an academy rifle.
