    Which calipers?

I have had a set of the hornady digital calipers for awhile now. They took a crap on me last night.

Looking for suggestions on what i should replace them with. Im not a fan of the dial type. I want digital. And i dont want to spend $200 LOL That pays for another tax stamp!!

Fowler makes some decent ones. If you are really thrifty, then go to shars.com. I don't know your application. If its a tough environment, I'd go with the Fowler. If not, the shars will work fine.

Quit being a tightwad Matt! See what happens when you buy cheap stuff, it craps out on you at the worst times.

I'll take a dial set over a digital--never had a single problem with my dial set in 30+ years. No batteries to change, no screens to die, etc. Same goes for scales.

Good price on those. And probably the last pair you'll need.

I know you said you weren't a fan of the dial type, but they are really easy to use and read with very little practice. I bought a used dial caliper (RCBS) on Ebay a few years ago for about 1/4 of what it costs new. Took me a few uses to become rapidly proficient at reading it, but since I have, I can't see wanting anything else.

              All the best,
              Glenn

Yep, though I have had problems with em but I have been using em at least 5 days a week since 1993. The 6" Brown & Sharps I bought in '93 and still going strong and have outlasted both a 6" and 12" Mitutoyo.....

Brown and sharp is the only way to go.

I agree, the old Brown and sharpes are great, but the calipers they are making now are crap.

bns for dial calipers and starret for digital. I run a metrology dept. that is in charge of over 2000 personal and company tool calibrations, we also handle repairs. guys are hard on stuff, the numbers don't lie.
