    6.8 AR build help

Alright boys I need some help/advice. My son is getting into AR's (something I never really had any interest in) and he is looking at "building/making" a AR in 6.8 caliber. I have been reading some info on here from other threads and the only thing I think I know for sure is that he needs to get a 16" AR performance barrel, other than that I don't have a clue. He is wanting to use the gun for hog hunting and maybe even deer and wants to be able to shoot out to 400yds accurately. Give us some tips/advice on what he should look at getting. He doesn't need top of the line stuff, but something of good quality. Thanks for the tips.

    I built my 6.8 with a Stag 18" upper. It's wicked accurate!

Take a look a Palmetto State Armory. They are pretty good quality, but you will have to keep an eye out for a 6.8 upper if you buy a completed one. I don't know a whole lot about the 6.8 round but for hunting purposes I hear it's very good. I don't know what the main purpose for the gun is, but if you are just plinking with it, I would go with .223/5.56.
Good luck with the build it's addicting!

get a bbl or upper from bisonarmory or ar15performance.com and get his favorite roll marked complete lower. he will be set.

I have a stag 20" upper on my 6.8 (and a lefty stag lower). It is a shooting machine. Shot my largest deer ever with it two years ago at 330 yards

Check out DSG Arms over in Ft. Worth. They have some pretty good deals on stripped lowers. You can get a Noveske stripped for around $150. They have some Seekins for less than that. Look for the chainsaw lowers. They are the ones that have scratches. They sell out quick!
