    Hi-Point Pistols

My " Better Half" gave me permission to get a compact pistol (Situation in front lawn with Pit Bull but a 32" Slugger bat solved it) but a budget of $ 200.. or Less.

I'm not a pistol person and I know my 22LR pistol isn't enough. Looking at a Hi-Point (Made in Ohio) in either 380 or 9mm.

Any opinions on caliber and Hi-Point Pistols ...

I have Compact 9. Never a problem. Lifetime warranty. It is what it is, great for dragging around and keeping in the pickup. Be ready for the pros reviews...they won't be good.

Three friends own Hi Points. One a .45 the other two are 9's. All three say they shoot fine, but wish they would have saved a little more and bought something else.

      For what its worth.....

I have both a high point 9mm and a 40 if you're going to spend the money on a9 millimeter you might as well get a 40 both shoot well for the price a little heavy but fun to play withboth have enough power to take care of said problem

I have a 9mm. As others stated it is what it is. Shoots fine, it's like a moped, fun to ride but you don't want your friend to see you doing it.

Ive shot one...it wasnt the best but it did fire and hit the target (have a friend who owns one) if its what the budget allows id say go for it. it will shoot when you pull the trigger. Id prefer a cheap wheel gun in 38 or 357 used thats doable for the $200 mark. but its all personal preference you dont have many choices in that price range. better to have a highpoint when you need it then saving up for the glock and trying to throw quarters your saving at the problem. Id pikl 9 over 380 for multiple reasons but for one ammos cheaper and practice helps...also these guns are extremely heavy (too heavy) so recoil isnt too bad actually

Look at SCCY.....great compact 9mm pistol. I have about 500 rounds through mine without a hicup. They run $249 and are worth the extra 49 bucks. Just my 2 centsn

As others have said.. They're not the prettiest things out there but they go bang when ya pull the trigger. My boss had one in 9mm and he loved it. Said he never had a problem with it not firing. With all the extra weight recoil isn't bad either. Might not be appealing to the eyes, but if it's reliable who cares.

Buddy has one in 45. Shoots well, and when empty you can beat whatever is still alive to death with it. If thats your budget, go with the 9mm over 380. Easier to find ammo for and less expensive

249$ for a sccy cpx or 289 for a s&w SD9VE. either way youll be happier with your decision. i cant make myself get a high point. nothing against those that do, but you dont build a enormous reputation for being complete crap without cause

Had a .45 for a long time. Shot great and never missed a lick. Only reason I got rid of it was because we had kids, and I really didn't have a secure place to keep it.
