    Mauser 95 action ??

I bought a 22-250 on here a couple of months ago and it's one of the best shooting guns I have ever owned but the action is giving me fits. Its a mauser 95 action and the safety is hard to move back and forth and the bolt is real tight and is hard to cycle. I have cleaned it and put wd-40 all on it and that didn't help at all. Is there anything I can do or is that just how the mauser actions are? here is the link to the fun I bought.

This site has some fairly detailed instructions(if still posted) on cleaning/inspecting the bolt. Helped a friend with his a couple years ago and he eventually ended up parting it out. 100 year old actions can be a pain to mess with. Could polish a bit and see if that helps. Could take to a 'smith;however, not sure if you want to sink anymore money into it.

My experience with WD40 is it will gum up over time. Might just need a good cleaning with brake cleaner and a minimal coat of light gun oil.

Have you completely disassembled the entire bolt , and cleaned everything ?

The internally located firing pin spring could be gummed up from years of use

Remove and disassemble bolt, spray with carb cleaner or brake cleaner which will act as a degreaser. Do NOT spray the above chemicals on wood or plastic as they will ruin the finish , strictly use on metal

You can also degrease and clean metal parts with varsol or acetone to remove any crud, oil, lint, and powder debris in the bolt. Blow it out with an air compressor , then see if it helps

When done, use BreakFree CLP or similar lubricant to lightly wipe down and protect metal parts against rust

If bolt is "tight" closing and opening with a live or spent round, could be a headspace problem which will requite a GS to look at it

          hope this helps

WD 40 is not your friend. from the pics posted the rifle is in great shape and the problems you are stating may be solved by a complete break down of the bolt and a good cleaning.
I love the mauser actions. I worked on guns for a couple of weeks.
WD40 will dry and leave behind anything it removed. Always use a light gun oil.

                  ^^^^THIS!!

WD40 will make it WORSE not better. Over time WD40 leaves a shellac type coating. Good for preventing rust but a disaster for close fitting moving parts.

Brake Cleaner and CLP is exactly what I have been using for years and years. I "fixed" more than one "worn out" gun just by cleaning them this way.
