    7stw

I am in the process of building a new LR rifle and had a question about the 7stw. The rifle as it sits now is a rem 700 bdl chambered in 7mag. I ordered my barrel and can't decide if I want to go 7stw or back to a 7mag. I think I am leaning towards the stw but my main concern in doing that is bullet seating length in my action, I plan on shooting 180 berger bullets if I go the route of the stw. Can anybody tell me if the COAL will be to long to fit in my magazine if I go with the stw.

I can't answer that question but will tell you that my dad loads 160 Nos AB's nearly to the lands and has room to spare in his STW. It's a 700 BDL as well.

It's a great shooting rounds very accurate and IMO should give better performance with those 180's than the 7 Rem mag. The next option up would be 7 RUM.

book OAL for 7 STW is 3.60. You can see what reamer options your gunsmith has and have him chamber the freebore in accordance with where you want the bullet to be positioned in proximity to the lands

Good point about the reamer. A fellow TBH'r has turned me on to his gunsmith, West Texas Ordnance. After a few emails and phone calls, I believe I'll be sending them my 260 barrel to rechamber into a 260 AI after this next season. They can set the free bore specifically allowing most of the longer bullets to fit in the mag.

              Disregard. Lol. Bad memory lmao.

WTO can chamber it to run at mag length if you desire. They have done this to 3 rifles for me. All worked flawlessly and were all 1/4" guns.
